1. Wally had six turnovers. Meanwhile, the Pistons committed their first turnover midway through the third quarter.
2. How in the world did Wally start the second half covering Rip Hamilton? Doc watched the first half right?
3. There was a point where Cousy simply said, “It’s time for Rondo.” Doc agreed…several minutes later. That was a critical error in judgment.
4. For all the talk about the age of the Heat, it’s the Pistons that play like an old team. Tonight was a classic YMCA type match up where the older, experienced guys pass well, move without the ball, show patience, do the little things (3 at the end of the half, draw fouls with 1 second on the shot clock), grab long rebounds and loose balls, don’t commit turnovers and run away at the end.
5. Big time redemption for Cousy tonight. He was right on when he noted that there was no way the C’s could defeat Detroit in a half court game. That said having Cousy in the booth really stifles Tommy. It’s as if a married couple (Gorman and Heinsohn) are struggling to deal with a new X factor.
6. I love the way the Pistons play overall but I don’t fear them anymore. They are going to win a bunch of games but I believe their days as a legitimate title contender are over. The drop off from Big Ben to Nazr Mohammed has to frighten Pistons fans.
7. Watching this game ought to hammer home how important beating teams like the Hornets will be for the Celtics this year.
8. I’m not enthused with the third quarter lineup.
9. I won’t attack the dance team in general but that opening was unnecessary to say the least.
10. At some point I need to revisit the Michael Olowokandi era because my preseason words, "I think it's safe to say that the picture to the right is the closest we'll come to seeing him in a Celtics’ uniform ever again” were not prophetic. And I don’t regret that too much.
