Realistically how many games would the Celtics win if they swapped point guards with the Nets? To put it another way, the other night against the Knicks Rajon Rondo led a fast break, with Paul Pierce streaking up the right wing. Rondo penetrated, drew the defense and created an easy lay up for The Truth. The difference is that Jason Kidd makes those types of plays all the time.
That said the New Jersey Nets are a troubled team. Do they have any inside presence at all? Josh Boone, Jason Collins, Mikki Moore, Bostjan Nachbar, and Clifford Robinson (still in the league somehow and doesn’t play inside really) don’t strike fear into the hearts of opposing big men. The Nets make up is pretty much the opposite of the Knicks right now in terms of quality of play from guards and big men. I wish I knew how to write.
Al Jefferson went off for 32 points and 18 rebounds.
I know it’s all about the draft pick. But Paul Pierce and Delonte West’s back to back 3s were moment. I was excited. As the games are played I can't root against the C's. It's like rooting against the Americans in Red Dawn.
Donny Marshall loves to create dead air. All I can say is that his presence reveals the fact that Mike Gorman is a professional. Let’s leave it at that.
Wait did Donny Marshall play at UConn and later for the Nets?
In the midst of an abysmal shooting day from the field (8-28) it was nice to see the Truth rally with some big shots and reassert his alpha dog status.
The C’s are riding a 3 game win streak heading into tomorrow’s game. That felt strange to type. You know what doesn’t? Can Celtics fans work together to boo the hell out of Mark Blount tomorrow night? Also there is some sentiment that Kendrick Perkins and Big Al don’t exactly miss Blount. Look for them, in particular Perkins, to bring a little something extra.
Back to Big Al. I feel even better about posting this about a month ago. If there is a lesson here it’s that I’m awesome. I mean Al is awesome.
At some point the C's will play a team that is not ravaged by injuries or fatally flawed. It will be interesting to see what happens.
